Wrap up Warm in Winter

6 Jan

Happy New Year!

Winter is here in the northern hemisphere, and so I assume you will be wrapping up warm to protect yourself from the elements. Well just like us concrete suffers from the cold.

Thermal blankets prevent heat and moisture loss during the initial curing process. Properly cured concrete can gain 25% higher next day strengths with no surface cracking. Thermal blankets should be an integral part of your concrete production process all year round. Thermal blankets should create at least 80% relative humidity, retain the heat of hydration for at least 12 hours after initial casting and protect the concrete from the sun and wind.

So please use a thermal blanket and make sure you get the best concrete possible! Also have a look at the December 2012 blog that was all about cold weather concreting too.
